AC’s temperature could be programmed for the back seats;

Ear phones for listening to different CD’s or satellite radio stations in back seats;

Jim’s hearing aids whistling and his watch dinged at 10:15 a.m. each morning;

Bird calls on CD’s;

Seat heaters which mysteriously turned on;

And other dings & dongs which Doris could not identify.

Each time a bell went off Sandra was digging in her purse trying to find the source.

Dan said to Doris, “Slow down to 80 so we can see the birds.”

A highway patrolman passed us going about 90 while we were doing 80.

    Doris saw the one bird she wanted to see – a Roadrunner - on the very first day.  Whew!  We would still be  there if she had not seen it.

THE ELECTRONIC BIRD TRIP TO NEW MEXICO & ARIZONA
(Bells & Whistles)
July 27  -  August 7, 2006

In Doris Burnett’s Yukon GMC SUV were:  Doris from Manhattan, Jim Mayhew from Abilene, Sandra Tholen, Dan Kilby, and Julia Hoppes.

Doris’ SUV had every bell & whistle known to man:
Radar Detector squawking (which did not help us in Texas - we got caught but we only got a warning);

Cell phones singing tunes and                     beeping;

Julia’s GPS talked to us and went “dong & donk” which Julia still couldn’t get to work after 12 days.
