Center is owned and operated by the Wichita Audubon Society.
The trails are open AT NO CHARGE to the public from sunrise to sunset,
seven days a week.
Detour to Chaplin Nature Center until Spring 2020
The Madison Bridge (HWY 166) that crosses the Arkansas River west of Ark City is closed, but if you are coming from I-35 you can still reach the Chaplin Nature Center the normal route. Just ignore all the detour signs for 166 East. Continue on I-35 to exit 4, go east on 166 and go around any barricades until you get to our turn-off at 21st Road.
If you are coming from Arkansas City (HWY 77):
From the North: Take 152nd Road west towards Gueda Springs. Then turn south on 11th and then east on 272nd.
From the South: Take 306th Road west (AKA Lovers Lane). Stay on the paved road to HWY 166. Go west to our turn-off at 21st Road
The Visitor's Center has educational exhibits featuring changeable modules, so you can learn and enjoy new
things with each visit!
Center is open on Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.
year round. It is closed Mondays and holidays.
