Tuesday, August 1
Before breakfast we went to the feeders of Dave Jasper in Portal. The biggest treat there was a rather ratty looking Crissal Thrasher. We then drove up to Rustler's Park. We had good luck with a number of species: Mexican Chickadee, Painted Redstart, Grace's Warbler, Greater Pewee and Olive Warbler. During lunch  at Barfoot picnic ground it started thundering, and we decided it would be prudent to get off the mountain. We saw a beautiful Arizona Sister butterfly (technically a California Sister) on the way down. A Zone-tailed Hawk put in an appearance near the Chiricahua National Monument. We took a truly brutal washboard back road into Tombstone, and from there to Sierra Vista, where we stayed the next two nights.
